Who we are
We are a group of plant breeders working from a spiritual scientific and biodynamic background who have come together in order to breed cultivated plant varieties for the organic sector.

What we want
We would like to exchange experiences gathered in the course of plant breeding work and evaluate our differing approaches. On this basis common policies can be worked through and this mission statement developed further while remaining open to individual nuances.

Vision
In our view the human being is a spiritual being able to act out of impulses derived from an inner connection with the higher self.
Through their nutritional potential food plants can create the foundation upon which human beings can develop thinking, feeling and will activity.
We wish to support this through the careful breeding of relevant food plants and so contribute towards the further development of humanity, cultivated plants and the earth.
Seeds are far more than simply a means of production. Cultivated plants and their varieties are invaluable elements of our cultural heritage. The care of this heritage requires binding rules of engagement.

Goals
To breed varieties appropriate to human nutritional needs.
To develop plant breeding directly linked to local conditions thereby enhancing regional diversity.
Using the insights of the Biodynamic approach we wish to breed varieties suited to organic growing conditions.
Under the concept of "intervention through plant breeding," we understand such selection and creation of variation as is brought about through natural crossing and transformation of the environment.
We intend to bring about mutual development between human beings, the earth and plant life.

The plant
The plant is a form of life which links heaven and earth through its own existence.
Earthly substances are formed and transformed through the influence of the cosmos and the earth's immediate surroundings.
The plant orientates itself outwards from the centre of the earth and builds a connection to the environment in which it develops. It creates the foundations for other forms of life on the earth.

Nutritional quality
The way in which plants develop and ripen forms the quality of our food.

In the course of digestion life energies within plant substance are freed and made available. They can then be made use of by the human being for the benefit of his physical, psychological and spiritual development. We take our starting point from an image of the human being whose future development will lead increasingly towards greater inner and spiritual activity.
Nutritional quality as it has been described depends not only on how a plant has been cultivated but also to a significant degree on how it has been bred and further how its characteristics have evolved in relation to regional growing conditions.

Breeding methods
The purpose of the applied breeding methods is to retain and strengthen the vital organism of the plant through diversification and regional adaptation.
Methods which result in weakening or damaging the plant's life forces are avoided.
The breeding methods used involve selection out of a developing diversity, classical cross breeding and methods evolved from the foundations of Biodynamic agriculture.
These breeding methods are supported through comparative analysis, morphological analysis through comparative phenomenological observations and an imaginative appreciation of the plant.
These skills can only be developed by the breeder out of individual initiative.
Breeding methods also have consequences in relation to the social surroundings. It must be possible for varieties to be grown on by others. For this however appropriate rules and conditions are needed to ensure that further plant breeding takes place.

Mutuality and co-responsibility
Mutual recognition of each other's individual approach and method forms the basis of our working relationship.
Interest in each other's work is what makes this working relationship possible and enables our goals to be better achieved.
The individual is able to present ideas, opinions and initiatives according to personal possibilities. The subsequent evaluation process and the perception of it by the one evaluated builds a link between what is individual and what is held in common.

The step into wider social contexts
We aim to bring our objectives of working together and exchanging experiences into connection with other similarly oriented work in society – with doctors and scientists, consumers, producers and processors.
This requires transparency regarding the methods applied in the course of plant breeding and the way work is shared right through to the end product.
By this means all those concerned can develop their capacity for making personal judgements and have trust in consciously responsible ways of working.
